Westmorland & Furness Council has launched the Local Plan Scoping Consultation, inviting residents, businesses and community groups to share their views on what the new Local Plan should cover. The consultation runs from 1 July to 11 August 2026.
The Local Plan will guide future development, housing, the environment, infrastructure and local priorities across the area. This early stage is an opportunity for people to influence the themes and issues the plan should address.
Residents can take part online at: www.westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk/localplan
Paper questionnaires are also available for those unable to respond online and can be posted to Barrow Town Hall, South Lakeland House or Voreda House.
The council has provided posters, flyers and a “Quick Read” leaflet summarising the topics under consideration. Parish and Town Councils are encouraged to help promote the consultation locally.
